DAVID JACKMAN
Title: Fiery Holes Label: Robot Records Format: CD EP PRESS RELEASE Previously released as a limited edition CD EP (200 copies only) in '96, Fiery Holes represented David Jackman's most strinking departure from the Organum sound and many of his previously solo releases. Available again in a "standard" edition, Fiery Holes consists of three interlocking pieces that offer a perpetual, aural melange of add locations, spatial relationships, absurdity, and overviolence. "A very different sort of thing, isn't it ? Always an elements of surprise in his musical variations-- a true 'experimentalist', I think. Wonderful soft gong 4:25 into the piece. A child practices his musical scales to an audience of approving cricket, whilst workers made the necessary plumbing repairs. A reminder that something is always awry--in several senses--at one's abode. David refreshes our memories, sharpens our view of the past that had gone somewhat out of focus. Toward the end, the piano has stopped; there is considerable floading and breakage. A few sneezes attest to the damp and decay."--- JON CARLSON |
