Morphoex pays tribute to urban tones and suggest a trip in the post - world --a walkway through a corridor of unsettled sounds. "Travel" is an electronic language -- instinctive, methodical -- in which rhythms and noises meet each other into emotional complexities. A situation of fixed vertigo where the matter commands the new aesthetics.

To be concretized, one could say that this French electronic project combines harsh dance elements with powerful (sometimes even Noisex-like) rhythms and occasional noises. Elements of Mentallo & the Fixer-like electro and Prodigy-like breakbeat have been put into a raw, dark almost industrial setting.Nevertheless for those that are into powerful instrumental and abstract dance pieces, this rather unknown band might be a good change to discover something new and energetic.

Aussi austère dans sa forme mais plus radicalement rythmique, l'électro ascétique de Morphoex marque pour son label, Üne, une rupture avec le dark ambient de prédilection. L'album Travel fait osciller les pulsations entre le métronome asséché et le drum'n bass abreuvé de séquencers irisés. Dans cet univers chromé, les voix samplées auréolent le moteur rageur comme les myriades d'étoiles lointaines, aussitôt dépassés. Les autres boucles, souvent métallisées elles aussi, jouent les ponctuations lumineuses, courtes et protomélodiques. Cet exercice d'électro appliqué connaît aussi ses moments de détente, des plages confirmant la direction cosmique, rythmées par des roulements plus tribaux, tapissées de nappes synthétiques. Ce sont curieusement ces destinations accomplies qui sont  les moins réussies de l'album, trop marquées sans doute par des émanations gothiques. On leur préférera définitivement les moments de recherche, d'errance, d'un voyage économe de ses dépenses. FEARDROP magazine été 2005

Tout en rythmes et sons électroniques, "Travel" s'impose comme la bande son du Blade-Runner II, un Blade Runner où Dekcard irait en boîte de nuit. Ça groove, ça danse ("Digital bushmen", "Dies sanguinis") mais avec le coté froid et impersonnel de cet univers. Le reste du temps Travel dépeint un spectacle monstrueux d'une électronique palpitante. Dans le monde de Morphoex,tout est verre, métal, béton, plexiglas, tout est urbain, et le voyage proposé se fait au sein d'une gigapole anonyme où nous sommes réduits à rien, balayé puis décomposés par des nappes synthétiques alternant le planant et le rythme. Peut-être s'agit-il d'une illusion, mais quelque chose dans la production évoque la scène électronique des années 80, et cela n'est pas déplaisant du tout. Vraiment une très bonne surprise. Not much info is available about this French-based electronic project, based around the figure of Isthmaël Baudry. So much for biographies. Travel is a perfecly adequate name for this work of abstract wanderings in much undefined times and place. Morphoex take the liberty to span the territory between rhythmic industrial, modern electronica and dark atmospheric synth journeys, moments glued together in a generally un-consistent frame of continuity, though. Morphoex's travel starts charged up with buckets of energy, yet offering a few interludes of class dark electronica in between, then sobers up past the half-time mark to give way to more ambience, yet retaining-even enhancing, in fact-the enigmatic sense of abstraction that permeates the work. France has a strong tradition of electro-industrial artists with a pinch for dark atmospheres, like Flint Glass or Mlada Fronta, citing the most up-front examples. Morphoex somehow follow on these much revered foot-steps, only to fail by a large margin the goal of impeccable audio quality, somehow vital to these kinds of elaborated soundscapes. Then again, this might just be my point of view. In fact, were this a vinyl release, it would work quite well, but on digital media, it just doesn't cut in an affective way.
